Open Mainframe Servers
PSI System64
The System64 Server is based on industry standard Intel Itanium 2 technology providing mainframe customers with an alternative to proprietary architecture mainframes. System64 is fully compatible with IBM z/OS, OS/390, z/Linux and associated ISV and customer applications. Major system components of the PSI solution include:
- 2-32 Socket Dual Core Itanium 2 servers capable of supporting z/OS, OS/390, z/Linux, HP-UX, RedHat and SuSE Linux, OpenVMS, and Windows Server 2003.
- z/OS Partitions provide the architectural logic constructions needed for z/OS compatibility, including the Hardware Storage Area (HSA), abstraction of physical CPUs to logical CPUs, logical I/O assist processors (SAPs), logical I/O off-load processors (virtual channels), and partitioning (LPARs).
- Virtualization of I/O beyond what is available on mainframe servers today, allowing z/OS workloads to transparently read and write to industry-standard fixed block architecture SANs.
- Web server-based system management console with features comparable to an IBM mainframe.
- Mainframe-class reliability, including a machine check architecture (MCA) integration between z/OS and Itanium 2 MCA features.
